SHADES of Development believes that children and families have the right to participate in after-school programs that support their beliefs, values and goals. SHADES programs are concerned about the whole child. Therefore, SHADES of Development is diligent in learning about the goals families, schools and communities share for the children in each of our after-school site locations. Laurel Anderson
Site Director - Norwood
Laurel Anderson has been a SHADES team member since December of 2007. Laurel began her directorship at Norwood in August of 2009. This year Laurel has coordinated a partnership with Norwood Elementary School and The Great School Partnership to assist in the offering enrichment activities to the children participating in the Community Schools initiative. SHADES is currently scholarshipping 39 children allowing them to participate in activities offered by SHADES. Special thanks goes to Liz Thacker, Laurel and the Norwood Principal, Beth Lackey, for making the community schools partnership a reality for the Norwood community children. Laurel earned her bachelor's degree in Mass Communication at Middle Tennessee State University. She went on to earn her master's degree in Teacher Education from the University of Tennessee. We are proud to have Laurel in the SHADES family!
